B.Voc in Dialysis Technology Program
Overview

The artificial process of removing waste (diffusion) and extra water (ultra-filtration) from the blood is called dialysis. Our kidneys naturally perform this, however in some cases, people may have failed or damaged kidneys that are unable to perform the function adequately. They might require dialysis.

Students can study the fundamentals of dialysis, kidney medical science, fluid and electrolyte balance, hematologic aspects, infectious diseases, dialysis systems and equipment, vascular access to the circulation, blood chemistry, complications of renal failure, psycho-social aspects, and an overview of peritoneal dialysis and renal transplantation during the three-year graduate program.

In summary, students receive training on how to use, maintain, and examine dialysis equipment. In addition to technical instruction, this course also covers topics including human anatomy and physiology, renal disorders, other pertinent diseases, blood chemistry, etc.

Progression from the qualification (Please show Professional and academic progression)

Progression will be possible in both academic as well as professional area as:

Level 5- Team Leader/ Supervisor – Dialysis Department

or

Level 5: Specialization in Advanced Dialysis Techniques through bridge course.

Planned arrangements for RPL

HSSC has developed RPL policy to conduct pre-assessment of students for gap analysis as per NOS, sharing the gap & final assessments of students and certification.

International comparability where known

While writing the NOSs the UK NOSs were also referred to and an the effort was taken to maintain comparability in the technical part of the NOSs.
